Painting I

In this course of study, students will be solving visual problems on a two-dimensional surface. The students will interpret what is seen in reality, analyze it and relate it to the viewer. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with different painting styles and techniques in order to achieve their goals. A foundation of the elements and principles of design taught in the Introduction to Art course will be built upon and utilized throughout the learning process. Aesthetics and art criticism will be important tools to aid the student in evaluating their own work, as well as artworks from other artists and cultures.
