What do you enjoy most about The Prout School academic experience?
I have definitely enjoyed the teachers. They are all very knowledgeable and truly care about the students’ well-being. I am also very impressed with the recent addition which includes the new science wing. As a result of the addition, the school is able to maintain a wide array of challenging courses while at the same time keeping the class sizes small, enhancing the educational experience.

Mathematics
"Mathematics is the queen of the sciences." Carl Riedrich Gauss
A basic understanding and proficiency in mathematics is critical in the world today. Through the study of mathematics, the student gains practice and competence in intellectual problem-solving skills which carry over from the classroom into practical everyday applications.
In keeping with the NCTM standards, the Mathematics Department has completely revised this curriculum. We offer the traditional sequence of Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra 2 and Pre-calculus. The development of critical thinking skills and problem solving, including open-ended problems, have become a major part of our curriculum.
Communication in today’s world is essential. The Mathematics Department seeks to make our students mathematically literate in the following ways:
