How long have you been acting?
I have been acting for approximately ten years. While searching for an appropriate high school I basically had two things in mind: One was I needed a school with strong academics and I needed a strong performing arts program. I chose Prout because it possesses both of those qualities.

Visual and Performing Arts
"Art is a human activity having for its purpose the transmission to others of the highest and best feelings to which men have risen."

Drama Courses
The drama program encourages and assists students in examining and developing their own creative talents. Classes meet five times a week. Students examine practical theatre elements. Emphasis is placed on learning in the classroom. The extension of such learning is applied to pragmatic work on the acting and technical theatre areas of school productions. All students are encouraged to participate in various aspects of production work. The department develops workshops and two full-scale productions (one traditionally a musical) each academic year.

Visual Arts Courses
The scope and sequence of visual arts education includes aesthetics, art history, art criticism and the production of works of art. The visual arts provide students an opportunity to translate and convey concepts and ideas within the world surrounding them through the use of a visual language. The visual arts provide the student with valuable critical thinking skills which may be used to help the student succeed in solving other problems which may arise outside the academic classroom setting. Students will develop the courage to think independently, abstractly and creatively and learn to use their unique gifts to become valuable and respectful members of society in a social and spiritual context within God's community.
Music Courses
The music program is designed to encourage and assist students in developing an appreciation for music in their lives and enhancing and practicing their musical skills. Both vocal and instrumental ensembles are offered. The department produces a minimum of two concerts per year, as well as local public performances and music for school functions (spiritual and social). In addition, the music program collaborates with the entire fine arts department to produce the Christmas show, and with the drama department for the spring musical.
