Guitar I
Grades 9-12
Prerequisites: Student must have their own instrument
This class will cover the basics of guitar performance and elements of music: harmony, rhythm, melody and form. We will learn root position chords, scales, bar chords, transposition and basic lead guitar technique. Students will also explore elements of music theory including key signatures, time signatures, modes, chord progressions, harmonic analysis, sight- reading and composition. The class will also learn to use the computer program Finale to write and arrange music.
