Norman Poulin - Mathematics/Department Head

Mr. Poulin started teaching at The Prout School in 2001. Previously, he taught at the junior high and the high school for 28 years in Pawtucket.
He is a board member, singer, and choreographer for the North Kingstown Community Chorus, and sings in his church choir. His activities include tennis, golf, and biking.
Colleen M. McKenna - Mathematics

Mrs. McKenna has been teaching at Prout since 1994 and has a varied background. She has been a Wage Compliance Specialist with the US Department of Labor and a research analyst in the advertising field. She is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Math and Kappa Delta Pi Educational Honor Society. She is also a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary's Star of the Sea and brings communication to the homebound.
Michael James - Mathematics
Mr. James has enjoyed a long career in education. In 2003, he retired as the Math Department Chairman at Classical High School in Providence. During his seventeen year tenure there, he taught classes from Algebra I through Pre-Calculus. Previous to that assignment he served on the faculty of Mt. Pleasant High School and Windmill Middle School. He holds certification in both math and history. His experience with students from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds and levels of ability has led him to believe a successful educator must understand each individual student and strive to keep channels of communication open. Mr. James is a life-long resident of South Kingstown. He enjoys golf and playing with the seven grandchildren he shares with Mrs. James.
Thomas C. Stones - Mathematics

Mr. Stones came to Prout in 1999 after spending 27 ½ years at Cranston High School West. He is currently teaching mathematics to our high school students.
Linda Taggart - Mathematics

Mrs. Taggart has been teaching at Prout since 1998. Prior to teaching at Prout, Mrs. Taggart was a Project Engineering Manager at Ethicon, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, and taught classes in the Finance and Management Science departments at URI's College of Business Administration. Mrs. Taggart is a co-advisor of the Math League and is a Junior Class moderator. In her spare time, Mrs. Taggart enjoys choreographing musicals at North Kingstown's high school, teaching CCD at Saint Francis de Sales, and playing tennis. She also enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 children.
Ann Marie Vieira - Mathematics

Before joining The Prout School faculty in 2004 Miss Vieira taught mathematics at Cranston High School West for over 30 years. She is a member of the Rhode Island Mathematics Teachers Association.
Claire St. Onge - Mathematics
BA, Mathematics, Cornell University
Mrs. St.Onge has been teaching high school mathematics for over 22 years. She has taught a variety of courses from Algebra 1 through Calculus, served as department head, and developed a textbook-independent Geometry curriculum for The Wheeler School in Providence. In 2004, she left Rhode Island to spend a year cruising with her family aboard their 43-foot sailboat. She enjoys all sorts of outdoor activities, whether on land or at sea.
Christopher Bromley - Mathematics/Science

While studying at Lehigh Mr. Bromley worked on adapting CERN Laboratory’s GEANT4 high-energy particle simulation program to multiple alternate platforms. He comes to The Prout School from southeastern Connecticut where he has taught both science and mathematics. Most recently he taught science at the Stonington Institute School.
Kendra Smith, Mathematics
BS Mathematics, Franciscan University of Steubenville
Miss Smith, a native of Westerly, Rhode Island, comes to Prout after having taught math for four years at the Portsmouth Abbey School. While obtaining her bachelor’s degree in Mathematics at Franciscan University of Steubenville, she studied abroad in Austria for a semester. One of her favorite experiences while in Europe was eating breakfast in Germany, lunch in Paris, and dinner in Belgium all in the same day. Aside from traveling, Miss Smith enjoys rock climbing, skiing, and spending ample time at the beach.
