The Prout School theatre department presents the timeless story of The Addams Family by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice for its spring musical this year. This play is directed by Valerie Remillard with assistance from student director, Maria Baptista.
The Addams Family is a musical about the iconic Addams family and a comedy about the darkness they enjoy. Though dark and strange in nature, the Addams family exhibits an undeniable love that they have for each other through thick and thin. At the start of the show, the Addams awaken their ancestors to celebrate what it is like to be an Addams. The family hears news that Wednesday (commonly an emotionless girl) is in love with a boy named Lucas who is “a normal.” Uncle Fester (who is also in love) decides to enlist the ancestors' help to show the power of love. Wednesday decides to invite Lucas and his parents, Mal and Alice, to the house for dinner. While all of this is occurring, only Gomez knows that Wednesday and Lucas are actually engaged and is concurrently grappling with the emotions of potentially losing his daughter and lying to his wife, Morticia. Will the Addams family be able to survive One Normal Night? Watch Prout’s production of The Addams Family to find out!!
